Giovanni Amenta (TBC), Image Consultant - “True Confessions of a Colour Junkie".

I'm sure we've all heard rules about colour such as, "Don't wear white after Labour Day" or "Red is a power colour" or, my personal favourite, "Purple makes you horny". This keynote will clean up the muddy mixture of colour rumours and give you a clear palette of colour knowledge. Knowing how to use colour in your favour can help you in everything from closing the deal to looking 10 years younger! Once you get a taste of what colour can do for you it will hook you in and have you craving more.

Why should you be jonesing for this?
This keynote paints a clear picture of what colour means and which ones will look best on you. You will learn how to use colour to get an edge in meetings and, also, attract the right people to you and your business. Colour helps you create a clear visual message, which translates into more success and ultimately more money and recognition.

What highs await you once you get your fix?
- A clear understanding of the effects of colour on your image and interactions
- Knowledge of what different colours mean and how they can be used to give you an advantage in various situations
- An action plan to ensure that you are wearing the correct colours for your skin tone and ambitions as well as if your company colours are sending the right message.

Gio Amenta - "Show up in the world as who you really are and you will have the life you really want."

See you on March 16th!

Scott Orth

Scott Orth – Focus in the Age of Distraction

The importance for focus has never been greater than it is today; or seemingly harder to achieve. The technology we enjoy allows us unprecedented productivity through easy access to information, ideas and individuals. It also has the undesired effect of overwhelming us with too much information and fracturing our focus.

We live in the age of distraction – where the steady and abundant input from multiple devices, programs, apps and social media connections turns into a fog of distraction.

Albeit abbreviated, this engaging and interactive presentation will help SWAN members understand why we are so easily distracted, what’s at stake if we don’t manage this and a variety of mindfulness techniques to better manage our focus in coaching and in life.

You can expect to learn:

• Why our brains are so easily distracted
• Mindfulness techniques to better manage our focus and manage our distractions
• The need for creating versus consuming
• The optimum state for focus and how to get there

Lat's Take Networking Outside:
Lawn Bowling!

SWAN’s networking event. Is it nervousness that is stopping you?

I read a blog post today from Small Business BC, “Take the room by storm by calming the sea of anxieties”.

The author made 5 points. I like #1. I’m offering my edits to fit SWAN’s I've-never-done-this-before lawn bowling event.

Nervous about lawn bowling? I propose:
Register. This is the biggest first step.
 Wear a hat. Nothing breaks the ice quite like a chapeau.

 Bring a guest. Comfort in familiarity.
 Do the victory stance. Wearing your hat.
 “I am so good.” Say out loud. LOUDER!
 See you on July 9th.
Smile.

Speed networking

Speed Networking
Women NETWORKING with women – speedily.

SWAN is hosting a Speed Networking event for women in business. An opportunity to meet and mingle, converse, connect and create relationships….oh, and have fun!

You’ve probably heard the term speed networking and assumed that it’s similar to speed dating. Well, it is…and it isn’t.

Similarly, speed networking follows a round-robin approach to connecting with others. People gather and have an opportunity for brief, informative exchanges, meeting with a dozen or more individuals during the course of a single event.

The (dramatic) differences; where the goal of speed dating is to connect with just one, perfectly suited individual, speed networking, on the other hand, is all about improving the quality and quantity of your connections. The object is to meet and connect with as many, varied speed networkers as possible. Unlike speed dating, attendees are not there to eliminate new contacts, they are there to cast a wide net and develop relationships with a variety of people. This formula works so well for a number of reasons.

The event’s structure permits each person to interact with a clean break-away point where you to move on to the next match-up.

Proven to be more effective than traditional networking methods, speed networkers can develop more contacts in one event than most business people do in five months. It’s a uniquely structured, targeted, low pressure form of networking. The entire process is facilitated for ease and efficiency.

The organized time structure of speed networking also allows participants to sharpen networking skills, and practice and perfect their “elevator pitch”. Ultimately, speed networking makes it possible for participants to soak up information and ideas to help find new jobs, build sales and boost word-of-mouth.

Speed networking is FUN! The atmosphere at these events is not tense or stuffy, but exciting and adrenaline-fueled. The enthusiasm at a typical speed networking function becomes contagious and even the most reserved or uncomfortable networkers are buoyed but the tone, informality and shared goal of all attendees. That is, to meet — and help — each other!

SWAN invites you, colleagues, business associates and friends to join us on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.
Holiday Inn, 700 Old Lillooet Road, North Vancouver
6:00pm – 8:30pm
Complimentary beverage, appetizers and door prizes

Early Bird PayPal registration will be accepted until Monday, March 30th at 11:45 PM PST.

5 Massive Money Blocks That Prevent You From Thriving In Your Life and Biz (and how you can quickly shift it once and for all)!

Having conducted over 20,000 soul purpose sessions over the years, Jennifer has seen a consistent pattern with folks from all walks of life as to what holds them back in thriving in their potential and creating the life of their dreams - money!  She’s also come to learn that it’s never about the money, and is really about something much, much deeper.  Once folks tap into the divine truth of what’s really holding them back, they burst through lifetimes of barriers and blockages and begin seeing instant shifts in their money story (such as unexpected cheques in the mail, new business opportunities, tax rebates, new clients, found money, promotions and so much more).

She’s going to provide insight into:

  • the 5 ways your money story is holding you back;
  • the 4 root causes behind it;
  • the 3 quick and powerful ways they can shift it

I have had the opportunity to speak at several events over the last several years, and I must say that the SWAN network was a cut above the rest. They were eager to host me, I was properly prepped before the event, well-received by the organiszer of the event, and was treated like a VIP throughout. When I arrived, there were several volunteers on hand, organized and ready to make it a positive experience for all the members, each of the members was friendly, welcoming, and professional ans the flow of the event was spot on. The SWAN network is by far one of the classiest, professional, and welcoming group I've ever had the privilege of spending time with and I would be honoured to be invited back!

  1. Feeling a growing dissatisfaction with their role and they’re not sure what to do
  2. Struggling in their business for over 2 years yet they love what they do but are not making $$$.
  3. They make great money but it feels soulless to them. They don’t want to change and risk lost revenues.

“For those of you who started your business with a dream – don’t ever give up on it”, says Serena Kwei of Serena/Bellissima Fashions. How you face the challenges in your business says a lot about your character and shapes your future. Serena Kwei was born in China and at age 13 her dream was to open up a chain of retail fashion stores! She eventually moved to Canada in the 1970s and with her husband starting an importing business in fashion. Importing clothing turned out to be much harder than expected and so rather than quitting the fashion industry altogether, they decided to give it one more try and opened up a retail store. And we could say the rest is ‘history’ but it was a long journey to achieve the success that she has today with her Bellissima Fashion stores in 22 stores throughout BC and Alberta! She has an engaging story to tell and she will be telling her story in the form of an interview with SWAN president Dana J. Smithers (think of it as an Oprah show)! She will share her personal philosophy of giving and why she fosters a culture of respect and empowerment in all her employees.

Speak Up and Speak Out: Personal Power and Respect in Business

Erica will talk the importance of creating respectful, healthy relationships in our business. The way to do this is to step into our power and speak up respectfully. She wants us to know that if we are unaware of our own power – that is a liability. Power is a dynamic in every relationship we have and fear keeps us trapped with unconscious messages. Knowing how to have the conversation is a critical piece in building successful relationships. Her message is that power, fear and skill stop us from speaking up. We all have a choice to be our own advocate, to challenge the status quo,  and we can learn to speak up to promote our own success. She will share with SWAN  how to move into our power, look at our behaviours and then take action to speak up and be wildly successful doing it!

Stop Being “On Demand”:  How to Take Off the Superwoman Cape

Does it ever feel like you never have a moment to yourself?  Whether you are at home, at work or with your family, it seems that someone always needs something from you . . . and right now!!   The phone is always ringing, your inbox is never empty, the texts are always binging and someone has to call your name to locate you.

Women of today can sometimes feel that they need to be all things, to all people, all the time.   This assumption is dangerous and in therapy, I refer to it as the Superwoman Syndrome.  It can get in the way and does not allow women to define balance . . . much less achieve it

In this presentation, we start by looking at assumptions and explore a few ways to begin taking off the Superwoman Cape.  We will look at ideas and strategies that can help you stop being on demand.  You will learn new ways to think about:

-  setting limits

-  understanding guilt

-  resetting standards

Pam is a certified speaking professional, trainer and therapist!  There is nothing that gets her more excited than helping people look at different options so they can “stop doing what does not work and do what works!”.  You can check Pam out at www.ThePossibilities.ca
