Jindra Casperson

EZ Lay Flooring

At the age of 13, Jindra started working in her Dad’s accounting business and went on to attain her CGA designation and build a successful accounting practice. Although Jindra still has her accounting practice, she has now changed her focus to a different venture.
Three years ago, Jindra seized a fantastic opportunity to go into business with her husband and they created EZ Lay Flooring: a flooring distribution company specializing in luxury vinyl planks. EZ Lay Flooring, along with its sister company, distributes to dealers across Canada. The business has experienced exponential sales growth, and Jindra’s two daughters have now joined the family business.
As a SWAN member, Jindra has really enjoyed the monthly seminars, meeting new people, and the opportunity to connect with clients at the meetings.  For busy professionals, it is an added bonus to be able to attain personal development credits while attending a networking event.
To maintain balance in her very busy life, she has been revisiting her priorities and making a conscious effort to take time out for herself and her family. Rest, exercise, and travel are on her list.
Advice she offers to new entrepreneurs is to do your research, know the market, set realistic goals, hire others to do the things you cannot do, and work in the industry before going out on your own.
Having had the courage to leave her first marriage after 24 years and to switch careers after a long and successful accounting career, she encourages others not to allow themselves to stay stuck.  A mantra that she repeats to herself daily is “you get what you tolerate,” so don’t tolerate what isn’t working for you.
Jindra enjoys getting away on the weekends with her family and puppy and enjoying the outdoors whenever possible.

Shirley Vollett

Life and Relationship Coaching

As a Certified Professional Coach, Shirley is passionate about helping her professional and small business clients achieve success and fulfillment in their work and relationships.  She especially loves to help singles become “relationship-ready”.
Prior to training as a Coach, Shirley spent over 13 years in the social service field. After her children were born, she was motivated to find a flexible career to allow her more time to parent. Coaching clients by phone was an ideal way to support that vision.
While Shirley admits it’s not always easy to turn her computer off at the end of the day, she says coaching her clients towards living a balanced life has encouraged her to live a more balanced life as well. She places a high value on self-care and enjoys walking, hiking, yoga, meditation, and journaling.
An active member and volunteer with SWAN for over 5 years, Shirley has been inspired by the many guest speakers and by the community of women she’s become a part of.
As an entrepreneur, Shirley feels it’s important to let go of the “shoulds” in business and do what feels right. She believes the biggest pitfall for new entrepreneurs is not asking for help when they need it, as well as setting “wildly unrealistic” income goals. She encourages her clients to take small but do-able steps.
In addition to her 26 year marriage and two adult children, Shirley is most proud of having helped others realize their goals and thrive in their lives.
