Carol Fraser

Online Reputation Marketing

Four years ago when Carol moved from Toronto to West Vancouver to experience life on the West Coast, she didn’t just change her lifestyle; she also changed her career focus.  After working 20 plus years as an executive in the financial services industry, Carol decided it was time to start her own business and spend more time with her family.

Carol runs a marketing business that specializes in online reputation marketing. Carol works with her business clients to help them take a more proactive approach to building and promoting a positive online reputation.  For a business, reputation is their #1 asset.

When asked about whether she experienced any fears or obstacles in the process of starting her own business, she acknowledged that it was a bit scary wondering if she’d get any clients, but she enjoyed the challenge. Carol cites getting her first client as one of her greatest work-related achievements.

Carol notes that not being mindful of how you are organizing your day or prioritizing activities is often a pitfall for new entrepreneurs. She also notes that passion drives success, so it’s important to love what you do. Her advice to new entrepreneurs is to just go out there and do it: don’t over think things.

Carol’s family, running in the Boston Marathon (twice), and making many special friendships in the four years she’s been in Vancouver are some of her greatest life achievements. Carol learned about SWAN through the local paper about a year ago. She serves on the SWAN executive as the Secretary, and has a lot of fun working with a great group of ladies.

Linda Mackie

Inspired by her painter grandmother and compassionate heart, Linda Mackie loves to work with families, couples and animals to create memories that last a lifetime.  For her commercial work, Linda helps clients build their brand by capturing authentic portraits that truly represent who they are.  Her background in advertising and makeup led her to the work she does today. Linda loves being lost in the moment when taking pictures. It brings her great joy when her clients feel totally at ease in front of the camera resulting in soulful images they adore and that work for them.

Linda particularly likes working with those who are making a positive impact in our community, for animals and the environment; and she aspires to photograph the likes of Natalie Portman and Leonardo Di Caprio, both active environmentalists.

Some great advice Linda has been given is don’t play small and deny yourself and those around you your special gifts; the reward is the journey so enjoy each moment.   Words of encouragement she offers to new entrepreneurs is to be clear on what you offer and why you do what you do.  Be confident,  value your work and don’t give it away for free.

Linda’s other passions are spending time with her family and her cats, music, movies and being in nature.  As a SWAN member, Linda enjoys the support and synergy among fellow members and the awesome presentations that help better herself and her business.
