Jo Chevin

Helping Entrepreneurs Get to the Next Level

When Jo and Mike Chevin cofounded Entrepreneurial Rescue, they drew on their experience as service professionals, their finely honed skill sets, and their shared passion for diving in deep and organizing business details with their suite of services to assist overwhelmed entrepreneurs get to the next level of their business success. They recently started a second business helping Lyoness expand its loyalty and CASHBACKCARD program in North America and globally. The program’s philosophy is “Shop together - Benefit together - Do good together”
Prior to all this, Jo had been a critical care nurse for many years. The challenge was transitioning from there to feeling her expertise as a business woman. Jo notes that this process has taken about 10 years and has involved lots of personal and business skills development, as well as working with high-level coaches and master-mind groups. She considers herself fortunate to have experienced two deeply fulfilling careers about which she has felt very passionate.
Because she has seen how life can change in a heart-beat, Jo encourages new entrepreneurs to reach and stretch for their business and life goals; to just go for it. It’s vitally important to do work that you love and to make it fun. She cautions against isolating and highly recommends getting out and networking not just as a marketing strategy, but also as a way of regularly connecting. She believes that 80% of the work is in the mindset, so surrounding yourself with positive people who are also passionate about moving forward in life is key.
Jo notes that joining SWAN has really opened doors for making personal and professional introductions. She’s inspired by all of the women she has met at SWAN.

Marci Deane

Mortgage Architects

When I interviewed Marci for this piece, it was clear that she loves what she does and has been passionate about helping people for 25 years as an independent mortgage broker.  Her mission is “to make home ownership dreams come true by understanding her clients’ individual needs, and then implementing the most cost effective financing solution.”

Marci brings an additional service to her clients’ needs. She can easily refer clients to the services they need through her connections with different networking groups like BNI (where she has been a member for 6 years), and SWAN (where she has been a member for 8 years).

She has won awards with the networking groups she belongs to as well as volunteering within these groups and in the community.  She was also honored with an award from Mortgage Alliance as a “Canada’s Masters Club Award” recipient for four consecutive years.

Because Marci enjoys—and is successful—working in teams, she has recently embarked upon a new venture: she moved her mortgage broker business to Mortgage Architects Broker Network, where she serves as a Lead Planner in Vancouver.  Since moving to this new company, she has created the “Ask about Mortgages Brand”, so she can better help her clients fulfill their dreams.  Her mission statement is:  “Make Dreams Come True with Home Ownership.”

With all of the work, volunteering, and connecting she accomplishes, she still has time for her family and outside activities.  This is probably because Marci lives her purpose and passion, and that always makes the difference!
